Rework and crops!

Monday 29 December 2014

Besides making capes i have been busy doing other things like rework and making alternative stuff for the shop. Such as reworking rock tees and cropping shirts.
I've been making crop tops and coords out of velvet and mesh and these are the photos from the shoot!
I'm looking forward to working on items for summer as i think you can be so much more creative with colours and fabrics for spring and I'm gonna look into trends and what will be cool for lily vintage!
So bring on summer i cant wait to make different things!

Last of the capes.... And Merry Christmas

Friday 26 December 2014

So I've neglected my blog for the last month and i've actually missed writing it and keeping track of what I've been doing, but December has just been crazy busy!
I barely had time to do Christmas shopping, it got to the 23rd and i thought eeeeek i best start!
Luckily i got it all done feeew!
This is the last shoot that the capes featured on ready to go on Asos marketplace, and i can definitely say i wont miss making them for a while they are lovely but I've made so many that I'll don't want to see check fabric for a while haha! Although i did make one for my Nan for Christmas and she loved it!
I think they look really good in this shoot and suit the model so well!
Hope you all had a very merry Christmas also!!

What I've been up to!

Friday 28 November 2014

okay so i have a bit of catching up to do with what ive been doing on placement! kinda cos i havent had a day off properly in like three weeks!
but at lily vintage we've been doing more reworked items, and its beed back on focus with silk shirts, not to mention i've still been making shawls, probably about 30 in the last three weeks! I dont think I want to look at wool blend fabric for a while after this winter! Although abakhan you have been handy for all the lovely fabrics we've been supplied with!
i also bought some pretty fabrics the other week with the hope of making something actually for myself!
So eventually i have, i made some time just to have a go at making something different that isnt made from wool! haha, so i had a go at making a velvet bralet! This is just a mock up its not fully finished, (still got pins in) so wouldn't be best to wear it right now! Hopefully i'll get a chance to finish it soo though!

Shawls are popular!

Thursday 13 November 2014

The Shawls have been really popular, we've been working on them to see what sells best and it seems the ones that are more like wraps seem to be doing well! so they're not like kimonos anymore, and we're sticking to the woolen ones.
I'm loving the new fabrics we're getting in especially the green check and tartan, they're perfect for the festive season!
I made 8 the other day ready for the week, and this week we're trying new ideas using sheer fabrics in crop tops and dresses, which is always good to use new fabrics i'm loving the practise!

Alexander Wang x H&M

Tuesday 4 November 2014

Is this, or is this not one of the most delicious collections of highstreet collabs you have ever seen?!
Scrap Summer and its colour and pattern I say! It's most definitely winter clothes time and that means nothing better than wrapping up in black, grey and white!
Especially when they're this aesthetically pleasing to your eyeballs.
I mean just look at the wool blend biker, and the quilted leather jacket, i want them both in my wardrobe now... just a shame I don't have a spare £200. Boohoooo!
There's not just clothing either, theres plenty of accessories to go around. From Shoes, bags and even water bottles!
From the high street brand that's already teamed up with many incredible designers already from Jimmy Choo to and Matthew Williamson. It's now the turn of  Alexander Wang to take the lead with one of my fave high street brands (H&M) to bring us lucky (or not so lucky people if you're as skint as I am) this wonderful collection.
It's just full of great textures and fabrics and this is just a few of the pieces on offer. So check the rest of it out HERE
I bet you'll be swooning over the whole of it just like i have for the past hour, staring at my laptop like a saddo, but ah wells, not like i have anything better to do at this time!

Iceburg A/W14

Sunday 2 November 2014

When I have nothing better to do I have a gander on Pintrest, Seeing if I can find new ideas or collections i like!and a few weeks I stumbled across the metallic jumper in this collection and immediately pinned it to one my my boards, then continued to look at the most recent A/W Collection and I've fallen in love with almost every piece in the not to mention those metallic boots!
Iceberg that doesn't just do sportswear but incorporates knit too, and well that's just two of my fave aspects of fashion right there! Everything is just spot on it has such a modern but classic feel all at the same time. The colour palette is perfecto for this time of year and the hints of yellow and orange just lift the whole thing I'm sure you'll agree.
So I'm deffo Keeping my eyes peeled for more from this designer!
Which piece is your favourite?!

Happy Halloween!

Friday 31 October 2014

Happy Halloween!
On Wednesday I went out for early Halloween celebrations, we went as clowns as you can probably tell!
I made us some very bright clown co-ords, complete with pom poms!
It's the second time I've made a pair of simple shorts so it was good to make three sets to practise. I just traced off as pattern from a pair i already had.
Probably not the most scary clowns going but oh well...

Winter Kimono weather

Wednesday 22 October 2014

Once again plaid and tartan is a staple for AW as you can see its all over the catwalk, highstreet and blogs in boyfriend jackets, capes scarves and pretty much anything it can be made out of. So at Lily Vintage We've taken this and used it in a form of garment that was a hit for the summer, Kimonos. They're gonna be great to throw over outfits and layer over the top of denim jackets and leathers!
Perfect for that slouchy, cosy autumn look, i've been making these kimonos in wool, cotton and burnt velvet so there is ones that are great to put over a dress for a night out! The items are soon to be listed online on Asos marketplace and instore so take a look, they're gonna be reasonabily priced too!

Outfit of the week: Monochrome

Monday 20 October 2014

Yes on it with another one of these posts! Mainly because Everyone loves a bit of monochrome right now, so this had to be the outfit I had to show you.
Missguided are spot on as per so that's where my crop top and shorts are from and they have loads of great
black and white styles to choose from which obviously I could cram my wardrobe with!
I was going to add some pics of my fave ones but this post is kind of rushed before work and as I don't have a mac I can do a nifty screenshot so I apologise but I'll post my favourites sooooon!
And this H&M over sized blazer was FREE. Yep it was, from the Pretty Disturbia clothes swap, and as much as everyone loves monochrome more people love a freebie! So I'd advise anyone to organise a clothes swap even if its just with friends!

Lily Vintage is beginning its own collection

Friday 17 October 2014

During my second week at Lily vintage i was continuing to rework some of their vintage garments, and the cropped shirts have been selling really well, There's one in the shop window which was really cool to see. As people are liking things that I'm spending my time changing!
It was also the start to a new idea at the boutique, Having their own range!
My boss has wanted to start a Vintage inspired range for ages and with my help it is now beginning to happen! As she has so many ideas as well but just needed someone who could sew... Me I guess!
So I'm enjoying being able to have a say in it and working on my pattern cutting. We started with winter capes, And this one was in the shop window, so my Mum is probably more happy about it than I am haha telling me to take photos of absolutely everyyyything! And its already sold!
But I'm going to be making more as we want them in a range of colours so I've edited the pattern pieces and we're starting to get exactly what we want from the design!
I've been really lucky again to work in a place where everyone is proper lovely, so i'm staying there for a while so can't wait to see how it goes!

Nothing to do with placement but PARTTTTTYYYY!

Tuesday 14 October 2014

These are just a few pictures from my 21st party!
Sadly my Twin bro couldnt be there but he was on skype for a while so people could speak to him haha!
I had the best night with the best people minus a few who couldn't make it, so a huge thanks to my mum and dad for fo organising it and letting it be in the house. Hopefully we didnt annoy the neighbours too much, but think the pictures pretty much do the talking!
