Happy Halloween!

Friday 31 October 2014

Happy Halloween!
On Wednesday I went out for early Halloween celebrations, we went as clowns as you can probably tell!
I made us some very bright clown co-ords, complete with pom poms!
It's the second time I've made a pair of simple shorts so it was good to make three sets to practise. I just traced off as pattern from a pair i already had.
Probably not the most scary clowns going but oh well...

Winter Kimono weather

Wednesday 22 October 2014

Once again plaid and tartan is a staple for AW as you can see its all over the catwalk, highstreet and blogs in boyfriend jackets, capes scarves and pretty much anything it can be made out of. So at Lily Vintage We've taken this and used it in a form of garment that was a hit for the summer, Kimonos. They're gonna be great to throw over outfits and layer over the top of denim jackets and leathers!
Perfect for that slouchy, cosy autumn look, i've been making these kimonos in wool, cotton and burnt velvet so there is ones that are great to put over a dress for a night out! The items are soon to be listed online on Asos marketplace and instore so take a look, they're gonna be reasonabily priced too!

Outfit of the week: Monochrome

Monday 20 October 2014

Yes on it with another one of these posts! Mainly because Everyone loves a bit of monochrome right now, so this had to be the outfit I had to show you.
Missguided are spot on as per so that's where my crop top and shorts are from and they have loads of great
black and white styles to choose from which obviously I could cram my wardrobe with!
I was going to add some pics of my fave ones but this post is kind of rushed before work and as I don't have a mac I can do a nifty screenshot so I apologise but I'll post my favourites sooooon!
And this H&M over sized blazer was FREE. Yep it was, from the Pretty Disturbia clothes swap, and as much as everyone loves monochrome more people love a freebie! So I'd advise anyone to organise a clothes swap even if its just with friends!

Lily Vintage is beginning its own collection

Friday 17 October 2014

During my second week at Lily vintage i was continuing to rework some of their vintage garments, and the cropped shirts have been selling really well, There's one in the shop window which was really cool to see. As people are liking things that I'm spending my time changing!
It was also the start to a new idea at the boutique, Having their own range!
My boss has wanted to start a Vintage inspired range for ages and with my help it is now beginning to happen! As she has so many ideas as well but just needed someone who could sew... Me I guess!
So I'm enjoying being able to have a say in it and working on my pattern cutting. We started with winter capes, And this one was in the shop window, so my Mum is probably more happy about it than I am haha telling me to take photos of absolutely everyyyything! And its already sold!
But I'm going to be making more as we want them in a range of colours so I've edited the pattern pieces and we're starting to get exactly what we want from the design!
I've been really lucky again to work in a place where everyone is proper lovely, so i'm staying there for a while so can't wait to see how it goes!

Nothing to do with placement but PARTTTTTYYYY!

Tuesday 14 October 2014

These are just a few pictures from my 21st party!
Sadly my Twin bro couldnt be there but he was on skype for a while so people could speak to him haha!
I had the best night with the best people minus a few who couldn't make it, so a huge thanks to my mum and dad for fo organising it and letting it be in the house. Hopefully we didnt annoy the neighbours too much, but think the pictures pretty much do the talking!

Silk Shirts

Thursday 2 October 2014

When I had my trial for Lily vintage I cropped a fair few shirts, and my boss told me that they sold really well.
So as well as shortening dresses i was cropping more shirts, she rang me up during the afternoon to tell me one that I had just done had already sold! They have so many nice ones in stock and I really liked one of them so she gave it to me as a prezzie!!
To a few of the collars I was adding studs she'd had for ages but hadn't used.
I definitely find cropping shirts way less time consuming as the vintage dresses have masses of fabric to hem! Although silk can be a pain to sew, but I'm enjoying practising working with different fabrics aw with it being vintage garments are made in all sorts.
I'm gonna look in the shop to see how the items I've worked on are displayed!
